COLOURS
GOLD
Shimmering glory
A wave of happiness
Majestic luxury
Mysteries to unlock
...
GREEN
An enchanted wilderness
To be discovered
The vast wonderful countryside
The grass of freedom
...
ICE
A chest of mist
Around Mount Everest
Hugging it tight
by Joseph - aged 12
THE POPPY PETAL
The nervous but proud poppies standing upright
believing in themselves
Golden, tiny, fast, buzzy bullets glide
towards the panicking poppy
The poppy leaves holding it's stem
bowing it's head
One by one petals dropping off it's head
like rain drops dripping
The proud poppy helplessly sinking
onto the cold ground of a nightmare
The poppy trying to live
it's leaf reaching out
Poppies everywhere
dead ......withered
by Lucy aged 10
ROBIN HOOD
Robin Hood, Robin Hood had a whizzy arrow
He sent it flying through the air
He hit a target and went to the market
He saved all the good
by Kimberley and Luke
MEAT
Steak is made from cow
You may wonder how
Bacon is from pigs
Tastes nice with figs
Lamb is made from sheep
Chicken is nice
Tuna is a fish
Its made in a dish
by Alison
I WISH
I wish I was a silver power ranger
With a wolf mega sword that would save everyone
I wish money fell out of the sky up high
But it isn't true
I wish I could be good at sports
But that wouldn't be me
I wish I could fly like an owl
Soaring in the black night sky
I wish I could talk to Jacob
By talking baby language
So these things are what I wish for
What do you....?
by Tasneem aged 10
MY OPPOSITE
When I look through the mirror to see my reflection...
I see a mean looking girl with a ruthless smile on her face...
Yes! It is my opposite!
My opposite is cruel, inconsiderate and would do anything to cheat
That smile would send anyone running
She puts her fist in her hand
Like she is capable of hitting you
Her voice is so loud
That it booms into people's ears
That's my opposite
What is yours like?....
by Tasneem aged 10
SUMMERTIME
Summer is here
Umbrellas go down
Many children out
Everybody enjoying the sun
...
Rain has gone away
Today the sun is shining bright
It's nice and warm outside
You and I are happy
Everybody is happy!
by Chloe (Ollerton Primary School)
FIREWORKS
Fireworks sound like this:-
BOOM! BANG!
EEEEEH! POP!
FIZZ! WIZZ!
...
ZOOM! CRACKLE!
PERSHOO! CHERPOWEE!
EEEEK! SQUEEEEEAK!
by Nikita Williams
PEACE AND WAR
Peace can stop war
War means death
Lives will be lost
From destructive war machines
...
War is death for all countries
Peace helps, loves others, contains love
Not destruction
With peace no-one dies
by Josh Quigley - age 9
WINTER
Bin lids freezing
Leaves frozen to the floor
Car engines stop
The sky is as white as plain paper
The world is frozen and lonely
As paper falls it sheets the ground
by Alistair Draycott - age 9
ART
Wet paint dancing
Thin brushes thinking
Happy pallette mixes
Proud picture smiling
Amazed artist singing
by May - Nottinghamshire
AUTUMN
Trees tall leaves green
Squirrels surfing like the queen
Fruit ... tasty berries rosey red
Conkers dropping dead
People singing merrily
Birds chirping joyfully
'Hello everybody' people say
Dogs bark on a bay
Tractors ready to crop the wheat
Watch out - you're in for a treat
Pumpkins glowing like a sheet
by George (Willoughby Primary School)- Nottinghamshire
AUTUMN
Conkers crashing to the floor
Rabbits scurrying around
Leaves falling off trees...
Some brown some gold and
Red birds singing happily
Berries start to come - its harvest time!
So enjoy the time
Pumpkins glowing brightly in the dark
People getting ready for Hallowe'en
To scare everyone
Frost falling lightly...
Zach (Willoughby Primary School - Nottinghamshire)
A POEM TO BE SPOKEN SILENTLY
It was so quiet that I heard
The sun coming out.
It was Spring and shining.
It was so quiet that I heard
A moon and the stars
Sparkling in the clear sky.
It was so quiet that I heard
A ladybird
Crawl on a leaf.
It was so quiet that I heard
A grasshopper
Jump on the hard ground.
It was so quiet that I heard
The stars twinkling
In the clear sky.
It was so quiet that I heard
A computer
Typing and printing.
It was so quiet that I heard
A paintbrush
Paint on a piece of paper.
by Saaba Sheikh (aged 8 - the poem was written when she was 7)
Nottingham

PEACE poems:-
MY PERFECT ENVIRONMENT
I want my perfect environment
I want a hill in the park and sun every day
Get into a theme park for free
Go abroad and swim with dolphins
In the Mediterranean Sea
Where the sea would be as quiet and as clear as glass.
No War only Peace and Happiness
All the bad people go to a faraway place
Where abusers will cry and the abused will be full of joy.
I will play with my friends and laugh all day
Have cats and dogs
Even rabbits hopping in the garden
Amusements - if you lose you will still get a prize
The World will be fair!
by Lauren aged 10 (St.John Baptist C.E. School)

POEM OF PEACE
Be placid amid all noise and hatred,
Disagreement and haste are disturbing and unpeaceful,
Peace is only in love and silence,
Believe in yourself.
Give everything your best shot and be at peace with the world,
Understand and listen to everyone
No matter their age, skin-colour or other differences.
Everyone has their story and a life to live.
Respect all religions, no matter how different from your own.
Be at peace with all, especially do not tease or torment for pleasure.
Be friendly and relax in silence and tranquility.
by Ayisha (age 10)

A poem by Alex of West Bridgford Junior School, Nottingham
POEM - CHILDHOOD
Those were the days
When the joy swept in
And when the birds sing their songs
Why did we have to grow up
...
Those were the days
When we played all day
And stayed up sunrise to sun fall
HAPPY that's what I was
...
Those were the days
When we did what we wanted but got told off
And our friends supported us through this childhood of ours
I liked those days
...
Those were the days
When the hills loomed above us
A maze of mysteries waiting to be found
Those were the days
by Alex (aged 10)

Two poems by Rupee Bal of Nottinghamshire:-
I DREAM
I dream of a world
High in colours of lightness
Everyone lives in peace
No-one dull or sad - they all have happiness
......
I dream of a world
With sailing ships
Everyone good has a treat
Like falling chips!
I dream
......
I dream of a world
It only exists in my sleep
I feel it will come true one day
Everyone would live in peace and harmony
by Rupee Bal (when she was aged 9)
ACORNS
Acorn seeds
Grow into oak trees
Chubby and strong
Arms waving in the air
Like ding-dong bell
Three-cornered leaves
Wither and fall
Looking like crisps
In the wind
.....
Fat outrageous bark
Rough on my finger
Touch on my gloves
by Rupee Bal (when she was aged 8)
